Leyla Borovali - TURKEY
Leyla finds her zen in a lotus pose and headstand after an early morning workout.
At first glance, Leyla Borovali isn’t that intimidating; doe-like brown eyes, a chill down-to-earth attitude, and a sweet smile doesn't equate to the internal strength she has within her. Borovali has been consistently practicing yoga for two and a half years now, and it’s unusual for her to skip a day of practice on her purple lulu lemon mat. This mat was given to her upon arrival to New York by her mother, with whom she started her practice. This parting gift was accompanied by a note that read “‘you are here to start your life. I am always beside you, but when I’m not you have your own path to follow’”. This message helps keep her homesickness at bay, and seeing the mat every day keeps her “motivated and willing to continue her passion”. Borovali is an advanced yogi, but in her spare time she is pursuing a degree in Fine Arts at Parsons.
